This week on Sunday Psychic Sit-down our question is one I never tire of answering:

What is a spirit guide?

In short a spirit guide is someone you made a contract with before you came to this plane of existence to help you along your journey while you are here. They were someone you knew, either from a past life or you had a strong connection with when you were in the spiritual realm.

It is the job of the spirit guide or guides (yes, you can have more than one) to help you steer around obstacles on your journey's path, and learn the lessons we came here to learn.

Since your guides have been with you since before birth, and will be with you when you pass from this physical plane, they cannot be someone you have met or know from present time.

In fact, rarely have I come across people whose spirit guides were recent ancestors, such as a grandparent that past before they were born), nor have I come across ones that were famous people such as George Washington or Joan of Arc. I'm not saying that couldn't happen. I am merely stating I haven't seen it yet.

Sunday Psychic Sit-down

Since coming out of the psychic/metaphysical closet I have been getting a lot of questions from people who are starting out as readers (tarot, mediums, etc.) I have decided to start a weekly blog post to answer some of them. 

Here is the first question: What advice would you give to new readers who are just starting out?

The best piece of advice that I could give is this: Don’t allow ego to get in the way and keep you from giving a message. No matter how strange it may seem to you, share it.

What I find, more times than not, is that readers allow our own ego to hinder us. We allow doubt of our own gifts and the accuracy of our messages. Then we end up with something like this.

Side note: Please understand that this conversation was going on internally, while I was still giving the reading. 

MG (My Spirit Guides): tell them White

Me: White?

MG: Yes, white.

Me: Like the color?

MG: Yes

Me: ummmm, no. That doesn’t even make sense.

At this point, I completely ignore their persistence about the color white and continue on with the reading which includes a message from the client’s grandmother that I wanted to make sure he got and understood.

After the reading was finished, we parted ways and I went on about my merry way, only to bump into this person not 15 minutes later. Again, I hear the word “white”, and this time I had to ask him if the color white meant anything to him.

He told me, “ no, the color white meant nothing to him.”

I, of course, jumped at the opportunity to say “see there” to my guides. 

Then the guy said, “But my grandmother’s name was Blanca which means white in Spanish and she was from Argentina.”

At which point my jaw dropped and my guides took the opportunity to say “Nanner, nanner.”  (Yes, he actually said “nanner”. Although it was with a British accent and sounded rather posh.)

The word white meant nothing to me, but for him it was the name of his grandmother, and that was validation.  Since then, I have I learned my lesson. If it comes to me, I say it, no matter how odd or weird it may be.

It is easy for us to allow ego to take over. We worry that what we say may be wrong. That we will be thought of as a “mediocre or less than” psychic.

Believe me, mistakes will be made.  Being a psychic isn’t an exact science, we are not omniscient, though some would like for you to think we are. Just remember, the messages we receive are not for us, and may not be for us to understand.  We are merely conduits here to pass the info on.
